U19 North Stars Net Pair Of Wins
The Owen Sound Krueger Steel U19 Northstars Girls came out strong for our hosting weekend at the Kiwanis Soccer Complex on June 1st and secured 2 big wins to even our regular season record at 2-2.
First up was a 7-2 win against The Guelph Regals, with Ella McCoubrey and Ryann Seamann netting 2 goals apiece and singles coming from Willow Smith-Spinney, Aliviah McCall and Mya Good.
Next was The Mimico Mountaineers 2 squad where The Northstars came away with a 13-2 win, with Ella McCoubrey leading the way with 4 goals. Other scorers were Lauren Neil and Mya Good with 2 goals each and Ainsley Smith, Charlotte Fox, Hennessy Koeslag, Aliviah McCall and Ryann Seaman all chipping in with 1 goal each.
In both games the whole team played well front to back, and Marley Woodhouse was a brick wall in net.
Next up on June 8th the girls travel to Burlington for matchups against Toronto and Kawartha.
U15 North Stars Start Season Strong
The U15 Creative Playground North Stars had a very good start to their regular season right here in Owen Sound.
The North Stars were matched up against two strong opponents in week one and the girls came away with a tie against K/W Kodiaks and a hard fought win against the Oshawa Lady Knights.
In game one, the North Stars and Kodiaks exchanged scoring opportunities throughout the game with the Kodiaks scoring late to secure a 6-6 tie. Goal scoring in game one by London Doyle, Cameron Laycock and Ella Todd.
Game two saw a great team effort with strong defensive work from Caitlyn Tran, Scarlet Stevenson and Jenna Cranny; in addition to aggressive midfield action by Lily Shute and Addison McCoubrey. Allie Scott opened the scoring and Avery Seaman had the game winner, late in the game, for a 11-10 win. Additional scoring from London Doyle, Cameron Laycock, Leah Cooper, Megan Nissen and Sarah Barfoot. Callie Sarvis was strong in net making key saves in both games.
Next week the North Stars head to Burlington.
U11 North Stars Drop Home Games
The Transcontinental U11 Northstar Girls had two games this weekend on their home field in Owen Sound. Their first game saw the #1 Team KW Kodiaks 1. The girls had early success in the first quarter netting 2 goals from Meyer Quaid and Mila Minard. They continued to battle hard but fell short. Next up saw the Orangeville Northmen. The girls had a collective effort in the first 2 quarters but couldn’t keep up suffering a loss. Goals scored by Mila Minard (4), Clara Patterson, Harper Thompson and Sophie Burnett-Scott.
The girls will head to Burlington next Sunday to face the home town team and Oakville.
