Peacefully at Chapman House on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Born in Guelph on September 9, 1939, Edward Dominic Joseph Raco of Owen Sound was in his 86th year.
Beloved husband and best friend of the late Doreen Raco (nee Spencer). Father of David Raco (Colleen) of Owen Sound, Colleen Baker (Bruno) of Owen Sound, Pamela Cape (Brian) of Ottawa, and Rochelle VanKooten (Dave) of Owen Sound. Proud grandpa/poppa of Joe, Hayley (Lane), Sabrina, Gabrielle, Alexia, Zachary, Matthew, Drew and Phoebe. Great-grandpa of Rhett. Dear brother of Marie Bedard (Terry Hyslip). Brother-in-law of Jean Curley, Pauline Horsburgh (Al) and Sylvia Gazzola. Uncle Ed will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Philomena Raco, by his sister Jane Downes (Peter), and by his in-laws Rick Bedard, Mildred McPhee (Danny), George Spencer (Rita), Frank Curley and Aldo Gazzola.
Ed was a prominent businessman in Owen Sound. With his wife and family, they owned and operated McDonald’s Flower Cart for 52 years.
Note: McDonald’s Flower Cart will be closed on Monday for the staff to attend Ed’s funeral.
Visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 6-9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held at the funeral home on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Heather McCarrell officiating. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
