Peacefully at Lee Manor in Owen Sound on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Born in Owen Sound on May 9th, 1927, Margaret Helen Maynard, was in her 98th year.
Helen is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. She is predeceased by her siblings Elizabeth Crannie, Jean Burrows and Gordon Maynard, nephew Bev Crannie and great-nephew Robert Burrows.
Helen lived most of her life in Sydenham township on the family farm. The move to long term care at Lee Manor was a difficult decision but the caring staff made this transition so much easier. The family would like to extend a big thank you to all the staff for the care that Helen received over the last 3 1/2 years. Helen spent many hours listening to audio books and the family would also like to also extend a big thank you to the Owen Sound and North Grey Public Union Library staff and volunteers for ensuring that Helen had “her books”.
In keeping with Helen’s wishes, cremation has taken place, with interment at Annan Cemetery in the spring, arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Lee Manor Residents Fund or an animal shelter/rescue of your choice or the public library are appreciated. Online condolences can be sent to Helen’s family by visiting her memorial at www.woodfuneralhome.ca.
