Ivan “Spike” Dinsmore of Owen Sound was born near Thornbury to Irene Heslip and Clifford Dinsmore on February 26, 1932, and died in Owen Sound on December 16, 2024. Loving husband of Unita (Eriksen) and dear father of Leora Pyper (Campbell) and Erik Dinsmore. Proud and loving Farfar of Chloe Dinsmore.
Ivan was an Ontario Land Surveyor for many years.
He was predeceased by his nine siblings: Lois Olmsted, Donelda Lee (Cliff), Jim (Wilma), Tom (Phyllis), Ella Mae Black (Eldon), Dorothy Glasser (Carl), John “Jack”, Mary Ziegler, and infant Eleanor. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Judy Dinsmore, and brother-in-law, Ross Ziegler, and by many loving nieces and nephews and their families.
He will be sadly missed by Unita’s family: Alice Higginson, Gerven Eriksen (Dixie), Barry Eriksen, Maryann Dinsmore (Don), Delmer Eriksen (Marg), and Karen McCullough (Andrew) and their families, and by aunts-in-law, Mary Heroux, Margaret McComb, and Marianne Hansen, and many cousins.
If desired, memorial donations would be welcomed to Chapman House Hospice or St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Owen Sound, and can be made through Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, along with condolences to the family.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
