Keeling, Lois Jean
Passed away peacefully at her home, with her loving grandson James by her side, on Christmas day, December 25, 2020. Born in Foleyet, Ontario, on July 18, 1927, Lois Jean Keeling (née Long) of RR#1 Bognor, at the age of 93.
Beloved wife of the late Jim “JH” Keeling (Dec. 17, 2018). Loving mother of Tim Keeling of RR#1 Bognor, Jane Keeling-Ribbel (Rick) of RR#6 Owen Sound, Peggy Keeling (Hal Lewis) of Thunder Bay, Judy Keeling-Bridge (Cecil) of South Bruce Peninsula, and Dan Keeling (Marlene) of Pikwakanagan. Cherished grandma of Mary Cunningham(Mike Hoepting) of Sault St. Marie, Bill Cunningham (Michelle) of Hope, BC, Andy Cunningham (Candace) of North Bruce Peninsula, Katie Lewis, Sarah Lewis (Anthony), all of Thunder Bay, James Ribbel of Wiarton, Scott Ribbel (Amy) of Point Clark, Daniel Keeling of Owen Sound, and great grandma of Jackson, Ava, Mason, Hunter, Evelyn, Henry, and Liam. Dear sister-in-law of Lois Slumskie, Patricia Waugh, Ken Keeling (Mary), Lois Ann Armstrong, Marge Doyle, and Shirley Copping. Lois will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Predeceased by her parents Ben and Alta Long, daughter-in-law Linda Keeling, sisters Patricia and Peggy Long, brothers Nelson and Billy Long, and siblings-in-law Elgin Keeling, Mike Keeling, Alex Keeling, June Smith (Cecil), Bert Slumskie, Dennis Waugh, and by her nieces Denise Dickinson, Pam Smith, and nephews Patrick Keeling and Bill Slumskie.
Lois was a schoolteacher, teaching grades one through eight in a one room schoolhouse near Woodslee, Ontario. With her father working for the CN Railway, Lois moved often and was able to experience living in many different parts of Ontario. She loved to travel, shop, read, and rug hooking. She was a faithful member of the Bognor Women’s Institute and the Massie United Church. Lois loved her family and will be dearly missed.
Cremation is taking place and arrangements are incomplete at this time. Lois’ arrangements are entrusted to the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
