Born in Proton Township, Georgina was the 11th of 12 children to George and Hazel Duncan. It was in Dundalk where she was raised and met her husband of 62 years, Ray McKelvie. Ray and Georgina moved to Owen Sound in 1958 where they built a successful life together. Georgina is sorely missed by son Scott (Lori) of Milton and daughter Susan (Terry) of St. Catharines. She was the proud grandmother of Greg (Kelly), Kaitlin (Mike), Jennifer, Mark and Tamara, as well as her new great-grandson Benjamin. She was loved by her sisters Hazel and Peg and brother Howard (Sylvia), as well as her many nieces and nephews. Georgina was predeceased by her brothers Jack, Doug, Bert, Donald, Alec, Russel, Kenneth and George. Her friends are too numerous to list but will miss her kindness, generosity and hospitality. Georgina was always busy with her many activities and travels. She was a member of the Grey Granite Curling Club, the Duplicate Bridge Club as well as a member of “The Birthday Girls”. Georgina could also be seen at every home game of the Owen Sound Attack. Due to the current COVID19 restrictions, the McKelvie family is limited in the receiving of guests at the funeral home and cemetery. A funeral will be livestreamed at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5. Select the ‘LIVE STREAMING’ menu option at the top right corner of the funeral home website (woodfuneralhome.ca), and a recorded version will also be posted to Georgina’s memorial webpage following the service. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date when family and friends can gather safely to commemorate Georgina. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492. Memorial donations in Georgina’s honour may be made to Central Westside United Church, Chapman House Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
