Bill Murdoch, In Memoriam
560 CFOS fondly remembers Bill Murdoch, host of the Open Line and former MPP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, who passed away August 16th, 2022.
Bill was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1990 until 2011, representing the riding of Bruce—Grey—Owen Sound as a Progressive Conservative.
Murdoch was educated at the Owen Sound Collegiate and Vocational Institute, and worked as a farmer, electrical draftsman, and salesman. He is also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He served as chair of the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority for five years.
After retiring from politics, Bill continued to be the voice of the people of Grey & Bruce counties on various iterations of the Bill Murdoch Open Line Show on 560 CFOS. Murdoch Mondays, Midweek with Murdoch, and Rock and Talk with Murdoch on Fridays were all staples of the CFOS morning lineup at one time.
Bill was a staunch advocate for local music and always a champion of the “little guy” in the community. He touched the lives of thousands in our area, and he will be sorely missed.
