Peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2020, at Hannah Walker Place in Owen Sound, in his 97th year. Son of the late Arthur and Edna (nee MacGregor) Lemon of Balaclava, Sydenham Township, he was a long-time breeder of Hereford cattle on the family farm at Balaclava. He served as president of the Grey-Bruce Hereford Breeders’ Association. He moved into Owen Sound in 1986 and became an avid gardener (twice on the Garden Tour).
Predeceased by his beloved wife Lorraine (nee Marshall) Lemon. Survived by their children Mark (Cynthia) Lemon of Annan, Paula (Tom) Heatherington of Sauble Beach, Art Lemon of Calgary and Lane (Maria) Lemon of Owen Sound. Dear grandfather of Lori (Josh) Elliott, Ann (Seth) Cotton, Marshall (Meghan) Lemon, Sophia Lemon, Nathan Lemon, Erika Lemon, Ben Lemon, Jon Lemon, Daniel Lemon, and great-grandfather of Jasmine Elliott, Owen Elliott, Corbin Cotton, Beckett Cotton and Audrey Lemon. Also survived by his sister-in-law Evelyn (nee Hewitson) Lemon of Tara. Predeceased by his daughter-in-law Shirley (nee Janzen) Lemon of Claresholm, Alberta, his brother Donald Lemon of Balaclava and his sister Katherine and her husband Robert Hewitson of Annan.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private funeral service to celebrate James’ life will be held at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492. Interment will take place in Annan Cemetery.
