Dearly loved husband and best friend of Diane Bye (nee Robinson) for 59 years. Al always found lifelong friends throughout his college days at OAC and in his career in sales with Master Feeds and with New Life Mills. His work took him to several different areas of the province and when he would return in later years there was always someone he knew that would welcome him in. He was also very active in his local community and church and was an integral part of many boards and committees. He had a special talent for accomplishing any challenge presented and leaves a legacy that is a direct result of his vision. Al served as Councillor, then Reeve of Derby Township for many years and completed two terms as Warden of Grey County. He committed himself to representing his community with pride and earned much respect among his colleagues. Sports were always important to Al. He played hockey, baseball and a very brief “try” at wrestling. In later years the Blue Jays, Maple Leafs and particularly the Attack kept him involved in the sports scene. Al was always passionate about farming and his family and devoted much time and love to both.
Please plant a tree, take a walk in the park or a leisurely drive through our beautiful countryside and remember him.
A Memorial Service for Alvin Bye will take place at a later date. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th Street West, Owen Sound 519-376-7492.
