Barbara June Roberts (nee MacKellar) passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family, at the Georgian Heights Nursing Home in Owen Sound, on Saturday morning, August 20th, 2022 at the age of 89 years.
Cherished wife of the late David Roberts (2010). Loving mother of Ann Thomson, Julie Roberts, Peter Roberts (Cathy), and mother-in-law of Helena Roberts. Beloved grandma of Ken McGregor, Sean Sylvest (Natalia), Keith McGregor (Sherry), Sarah Sylvest (Mark), Kyle Stevenson, Krystle Stevenson (Chris), T.J. Roberts (Amanda), Jenni Stephen (Sarah), Owen Roberts (Chrissy), Alex Roberts, Christopher Roberts (Brittany), Matthew Roberts, Tyler Roberts and great-grandma of Brooklynn, Landon, Isabella, Keigan, Keenan, Zachary, Cheyenne, Daniel, Kohen, Jesse, Jackson, Nathan, Thea, Aubree, Oaklynn, Kolton and Maisyn. Dear sister-in-law of Violet Roberts and Chuck Slemin. Barb will be missed by many nieces and nephews and remembered by many loved ones, both friends and family. Predeceased by her parents James Daniel and Georgina MacKellar, her son Tom Roberts, her son-in-law Brian Thomson, her sister Beverley Power, her brother-in-law John Roberts, her sister-in-law Mary Slemin and her parents-in-law David and Johanna Roberts.
Barb gathered many friends over her years, sharing in her love for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Blue Jays, Raptors, and her local Owen Sound Attack Team. She was a passionate member of many groups including the St. Mary’s Church Choir, the Catholic Women’s League, The Golden Agers and The Temple Bells Choir. Above it all, Barb loved and adored her family and she was cherished in return. Friends and family will forever be reminded of Barb when they cozy up with a sweater or warm blanket she knitted or crocheted to keep them warm and safe.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Tweedie and all of the wonderful staff at Georgian Heights, for the love and care provided to Barb during her time there.
Parish Prayers for Barb will be held in the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home Owen Sound, 519-376-7492 Chapel on Wednesday, August 24th, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. with a visitation following from 6-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial for will be held the following day at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 550 – 15th Street East, Owen Sound on Thursday, August 25th, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Father Kuzma officiating. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
