Bessie Evelyn Jane Phillips

Passed away peacefully at Gateway Haven in Wiarton, on October 9, 2022. Born in Eastnor Township on August 6, 1928, Bessie Evelyn Jane (nee Cunningham) Phillips (formerly Chappell), of Owen Sound, was in her 95th year.
Loving mother of Mary Ann Jolley and her husband Ken of Pike Bay. Dear stepmother of Ted Phillips of Toronto, and Ellen Helm and her husband Stephen of North Bay. Cherished grandma of Andrew Jolley (Jennifer), Megan Jolley, Patrick Helm, and Timothy Phillips and great-grandma of Kendra, Blake and Seth Jolley. Dear sister of Floss Miller, Marg Cramm, and sister-in-law of Ruth Cunningham and Lorne Weir. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Predeceased by her first husband Bill Chappell and by her second husband Lawrence Phillips, parents James and Mary Jane Cunningham, her brothers Gerald Cunningham (Winnie), Tom Cunningham (Hester), David Cunningham, her sister Mary Weir and by her brothers-in-law, Allan Cramm, and Glen Miller.
Visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Wednesday, October 12th from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Bessie’s life will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, October 13th at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Georgian Bluffs, followed by a reception at the funeral home.
