Bryan Michael Barratt of Owen Sound (formerly of Tara) died at home on July 8, 2022 at the age of 81, due to complications related to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
In his younger years, Mike was known for his love of horses, as a baseball umpire, and was a long-time member of Tara Legion Branch 383. He was employed for two decades as an estimator at Russel Brothers. He was a great dance partner who enjoyed classic country music, bluegrass, and watching vintage episodes of Hee Haw and Bizarre. His drink of choice was always a cold Labatt’s Blue.
Husband and best friend of Kathy (nee Speer) for 55 years. Exceptionally proud father of three daughters: Jennifer (Scott Parker), Beverly (Ron Dedman) and Kelly (Adam Brusso). Grandfather of 10, ranging in age from 1 to 29 years old: Moira Parker, Ethan Parker, David Turbitt, Matthew Turbitt, Megan Ashe, Wesley Dedman, Kaitlin Dedman, Wyatt Dedman, Noah Brusso and wee Archie Brusso. Great-grandfather to little Peter Turbitt.
Predeceased by parents Ruth and Len Barratt.
Brother of 7 siblings: Beverly Hardman, Denny Barratt, Lenny Barratt (deceased), Doug Barratt (deceased), Marilyn Richards, Pat Lucas, and Mike Woods.
He will be fondly remembered as ‘The Cowboy’ to his many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to the caregivers who supported Mike to live at home: Jeremy Woodley, Grey County Community Paramedicine program, his regular PSW from Care Partners (Shelley), and David for being Grandpa’s ‘watchful owl’ over the past year. Mike loved to laugh, and make others laugh. He ended every conversation with “Keep smilin’!”
