Charles Stanley Glasspool died at Grey Gables in Markdale on July 17, 2022 with his wife, Janet McFadden Glasspool, by his side.
His loss will be sadly mourned by his wife and children, James (Shelley Latimer), Michael, Charles (Sarah De Carlo), and Emerson Glasspool. He was very proud of his two grandchildren, Jamie and Kate Glasspool. Stan is fondly remembered by his sister, Grace Stanley, and many other family members and friends.
He was predeceased by siblings James, Hazel, and Mary.
Stan Glasspool was born on January 24, 1931 in Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire, England. His parents were Charles Edwin Glasspool and Elizabeth Devlin Glasspool. He worked on the Cunard Line of cruise ships, the Aquitania, Queen Mary, and Queen Elizabeth. He moved to Canada as a young man and started taking university courses, achieving a PhD in English from the University of Toronto, while working as a dining car steward for the Canadian Pacific Railway. He taught at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Toronto before moving to Markdale. Stan had a leadership role within Masonry, serving as Master of Hiram 490 A.F. & A.M., G.R.C. and District Deputy Grand Master, Grey District. He was the family homemaker for many years, and a great cook and avid gardener.
The family wants to extend warm thanks to the wonderful staff at Grey Gables.
