It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doreene Murel Hobson, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully in her 96th year.
Doreene was born on August 13, 1929, and was married to her late husband, Fred Hobson, for 55 years. Together, they built a life full of love and memories. Doreene was a dedicated mother to her children, Brenda (Steve) Osborne and Paul (Michele) Hobson. Her family grew to include seven grandchildren: Chris (Kim), Lindsay (Jeff), Kate (Rob), Jamie (Cheryl), Krissy (Tyler), Justin (Brian), and Chantelle (Wade), as well as 10 great grandchildren. Her family was the light of her life.
Doreene and Fred shared many fond years at their beloved cottage on Lake Eugenia, a retreat they cherished since 1968, spending countless weekends there with family and friends. Doreene was also known for her hard work and dedication at Hobson’s Variety Store in Dundalk, a family business she ran for over 30 years. The store became a staple in the community, well-known for its vast selection of candy, which brought joy to many generations of customers.
A kind and sincere soul, Doreene’s warmth, wisdom, and devotion to her family will be remembered forever. She leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Family and friends will be received at the McMillan & Jack Funeral Home, 291 Main Street East, Dundalk on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. Spring interment at Dundalk Maple Grove Cemetery.
