Doug McCulloch of Heathcote passed away suddenly and far too soon at his home on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at the age of 63.
Born in Collingwood on December 27, 1957, Doug was a son of the late Allen and Donelda (nee Rear) McCulloch.
He was the proud father of Derek Reekie (Margriet), Dana Reekie (Riley), Rebecca Reekie (Zach), and Alicia Record (Brady), and will be remembered fondly by their mother, Patti Wolf.
Grampa Dougie ‘Bumpa’ will be sadly missed by Hanna, Charlotte, Dehlia, Jackson, Lennon, Kessel, Deacon and Annie.
He was the dear brother of Sharon Lobsinger (Jim), Dorothy LeClair, Marvin McCulloch, Karl McCulloch (Wendy), and was predeceased by his brother Myles Rear (Hazel).
Doug was the wonderful uncle of Duane, Kevin, Michelle, Bobbi-Jo, Shaun, Dustin, Brandon, Jordan, Danielle, Devon, Dylan, Jonathan, Sirea, and was predeceased by nephews Danny and Jason.
Father, brother, friend, coach; Doug had the biggest heart and would do anything for anybody. Everybody knew he was only a phone call away. He always made time for family and friends … and golfing, baseball, broomball, hunting, fishing, woodworking, playing cards and gambling. Doug really looked forward to getting away hunting, fishing and ‘socializing’ up north with his friends. He was a dedicated Blue Jays and Montreal Canadiens fan. Doug has worked in the apple industry in the area for many years and has spent over 35 of those years at Golden Town Apple Products. He will be missed terribly by his co-workers and friends at work. Doug participated in the community in many ways throughout his lifetime and truly enjoyed being a member of the Beaver Valley Kinsmen and coaching sports.
Due to the present Covid-19 rules and restrictions, a celebration of Doug’s life will take place at a later date when family and friends can safely gather. A private family interment will be conducted at Thornbury-Clarksburg Union Cemetery.
As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Beaver Valley Athletic Association (cheques only please) would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted.
