Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Brightshores Health System – Owen Sound on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. Born in Owen Sound on May 22, 1945, Edward John McMillan of Shallow Lake, was in his 80th year.
Beloved husband for 55 years of Shirley McMillan (nee Loughlean) of Shallow Lake. Loving father of Murray McMillan (Chrissy) of Shallow Lake, Susan McMillan (Stephan Girard) of Hepworth, and Jamie McMillan (Stephanie) of Kingston. Cherished papa of Alyshia (Chris), Justin, Jessica (Matt), Jolina, Josh and Sierra. Proud great-papa of William. Dear brother of Vickie Chamberlain of Hope, B.C., David McMillan (Cathy) of Owen Sound, Donna Goetz of Owen Sound and Debra Dean (Andy) of Richmond Hill. Ed will also be missed by his nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by his parents Victor and Edith McMillan.
For many years prior to Ed’s retirement, he was well known on the streets of Owen Sound working for the city Works Department. Ed had a real love and passion for collecting and fixing old cars to drive. Amongst all the car shows and cruise nights he entered, he also enjoyed the yearly family and friend campouts at the Barrie Automotive Flea Market.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ed’s favourite V.O.N. nurses, doctors, and the cheery nurses at the hospital. As well, thank you to all the family and friends who visited and helped during his difficult time.
Visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dr. Keith Sweeting officiating.
