Elizabeth Anne Holba passed away on Wednesday, March 6th, 2024 in her 94th year in Thornbury.
Liz was born in Woodstock, Ontario on March 30th, 1930.
She is predeceased by her husband Stan (2022) & parents Wilfred and Bernice Dow.
Liz is survived by her two sons Stephen Jefferson and Andy, daughter-in-law Shannon and granddaughter Mary Beth.
Liz was an old soul who gave her time generously and was rewarded for her volunteer work. She was a person of integrity and good character, overflowing with life, loved reading & playing cards, full of encouragement and advice. A University of Toronto alumni, she studied mathematics, physics and chemistry. Liz then worked for a Law firm in Toronto in the early 50’s. Stan and Liz were married in 1953. Skiing in the winter and fishing in the summer from her father’s homebuilt plywood boat, Liz was a fisher-person, birder, animal advocate and a very early (Harrowsmith) recycler. A life well-lived seems like an understatement for she and Stan, both were inducted as Life time members of the Toronto Ski Club.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be conducted at St. George’s Anglican Church in Clarksburg on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11 o’clock.
As your expression of sympathy, donations to the World Wildlife Fund would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted.
