Garry “Goo” Nixon passed away peacefully at the Grey Bruce Health Services Owen Sound, on Monday April 18, 2022. Born on July 12, 1948 in Owen Sound, Ontario, Garry was in his 73rd year.
Beloved husband of Judy Nixon (nee Lockhart) for 45 years. Loving father of Tiffany Muzzell (Joe) and Wade Nixon (Katie Marsh), both of Owen Sound. Proud Pa to the pride and joy of his life; Hailey, Ewan, Jack, Colby and Nova. Survived by his brother Robert Nixon (Leanne), sister Shirley Sweeny and sisters-in-law Pauline and Bonnie Nixon. Garry will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Nick and Jenny Nixon, his sisters; Gwen Whiteside (Pete), Elma Cupskey (Howard), Lorraine Reaburn (Ken), his brothers; Jim Nixon (Florence), Bill Nixon (Doreen), Dave Nixon (Marie), Bev Nixon, Dennis Nixon and his brother-in-law Ed Sweeny.
Garry was always proud to be the “baby” of the Nixon clan. Anyone who knew Garry also knew his love for the game of baseball and his beloved New York Yankees ran deep. As the motto goes “You win some, you lose one.”
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. El Abbassi and to all of the dedicated and compassionate doctors, nurses and staff that cared for Garry over the last several months at the Grey Bruce Health Services. Words are not enough to express our sincerest gratitude.
A Memorial Service for Garry will be held at Brian E Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th Street West, Owen Sound on Friday April 22, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Leonard officiating.
