Gordon passed away peacefully at the Meaford Long Term Care Center on May 1st, 2024 in his 92nd year.
Born in Griersville on January 31st, 1933, a son of the late Clayton and Olive Cramp of St. Vincent Township.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife and mother of his children Gwen Cramp (nee Austin) in 2011. Upon Gwen’s passing, Gordon met Lois (nee Kentner) and later they married and spent 13 years together.
Gord was the loving father of Paul and his wife Suzanne, David and his wife Peggy, Marcia Cramp, Michael, and Lorilie and her husband Réal Martel. Gordon is survived by 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Gord and his family enjoyed his petstock hobby and were often involved with pets of their own.
Gordon will be missed by his brother Les Cramp (Joan), and was predeceased by his brothers Alvin, Elwood and Emerson, and by his sisters Laura, Grace and Velma. He will be remembered fondly by his extended Austin family, nieces and nephews, Lois’ family, and his church family.
Gordon will be remembered for his strong morals and values, and kind heart. He and his family were always opening up their home to family, friends and neighbours, welcoming them in to share a meal and lots of laughter.
Gordon worked for more than 40 years at Amerock in Meaford. He was a very hard worker and was well respected by his coworkers.
From a very young age Gordon loved working with his hands. A classic ‘Jack-of-all-Trades’, he was quick to offer his expertise, guidance and time. Gord always wanted to farm and loved being able to help others with their farmwork, especially his brothers and anyone in need of a hand or two. He helped many family members and friends with building projects and carpentry, happily putting his heart into any projects he worked on.
Church meant so much to Gord, he always did his best to serve the Church and offered lessons to the younger generations. He enjoyed singing hymns with the congregation and visiting with his church family.
Gord will be missed but will never be forgotten.
Gord’s family will receive friends for a public visitation at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford, on Monday, May 6, 2024 from 1 until 3 p.m. A private graveside service of committal and interment will be conducted at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford.
