Helen passed away peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound, December 10, 2020. Born in Toronto on June 30, 1927, Helen Marie Neath (née McMaster) of Owen Sound, was in her 94th year.
Dearly beloved wife of the late James E. Neath (March 2011). Also predeceased by her siblings Edith, Jack, Ronald and Larry McMaster.
Helen graduated from the OSCVI in 1944. For many years, Helen and her classmates, ‘the girls of ’44,’ would meet for lunch once a month.
Helen enjoyed a fulfilling career for over three decades, as an Office Manager with the Department of Lands and Forests. She was grateful for her job and became a mentor to her coworkers and developed friendships that would last a lifetime. In their spare time Helen and her husband, Jim competed in curling and lawn bowling. They also enjoyed a good game cribbage. Helen thrived being around her friends and animals and walking in nature. One of her favourite places to walk was Harrison’s Park. Helen enjoyed sharing stories with everyone she met. Her infectious laugh, kindness and warmth will never be forgotten.
At Helen’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place and Helen’s urn will be interred in Greenwood Cemetery, alongside her husband Jim. A celebration of Helen’s life is being planned for 2021.
If so desired, memorial donations to the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter or the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation are appreciated. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492. Visit Helen’s online memorial at www.woodfuneralhome.ca
