Jim Almond passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Meaford Hospital on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the age of 80.
Born in Meaford on February 19, 1941, Jim was a son of the late Ernest and Elma (nee Holmes) Almond.
He was the cherished husband of 58 years to Isabel (nee Rolt) Almond of Meaford.
Jim was a proud father to his 3 sons, Bradey Almond of Meaford, and was predeceased by his sons Bradley and Kent Almond.
He was the loving Papa of Corina Almond (Ryan), Sara Almond, C.J. Almond (Cass), Rachel Varley and Megan Long, and Great Papa of Madlyn, Hannah, Ryder, Dylan, Finn, Kolton, Rowan and Karter.
Jim will be missed dearly by his sister Shirley Keaveney (late Dale) and was predeceased by his brother Ronald Almond. He was the special brother-in-law of Donna and Bill Phillips. Jim will be remembered fondly by his nephews Brandon Keaveney and Josh Keaveney (Elizabeth), nieces Barbara Phillips and Bonnie (Mike) Brophy and their families.
Jim was a true ‘caretaker’; he was dedicated to his family and loved taking care of the dairy farm and orchards. He took great pride in his family home and was the third generation to live there; never living anywhere else. At Almond’s Farm Market Jim would work extremely hard to make sure that everything was taken care of but also looked forward to visiting and sharing stories and jokes with his customers. He was very knowledgeable and was always willing to offer some advice or lend a helping hand. It was extremely hard to get Jim off the farm but when he finally took a break and went travelling he realized what he had been missing all these years and really started to look forward to seeing different parts of the world with Isabel and his friends, both old and new. Jim found great joy in curling and loved the camaraderie with his friends at the curling club. He will certainly be missed but will never be forgotten
.
A private family service of committal and interment will be conducted at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford in the spring.
