Peacefully at Brightshores Health System Owen Sound on Sunday, June 23, 2024. Born August 16, 1939, Jane Carol Sword (nee McCombe) was in her 85th year.
Beloved wife of the late Carman “Buss” Sword for 65 years. Proud mother of Kim (Terry Good) and Krista (Walter Bruce). Loving grandmother of Mitchell and Marcus Good, Curtis, Nick, and Miranda Bruce. Cherished great grandmother of 6 healthy great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Peggy Uttley, and sister-in-law of Marie McCombe, Betty Morrison (Wayne), Jeanette Irvine (Ron), Susan Oinonen (Dan), Patty Sword (George).
Pre-deceased by her parents John and Margaret McCombe, her brother Jack McCombe, and sister-in-law Joan Byers (Ray) Jane will be missed by many family and friends that knew her as a lover of sports, travel, and social gatherings.
Jane lived for time with family, encouraging them to stay close and help each other. She was quick to humour and didn’t mince words when she was called upon for an opinion. Janie loved watching her Canadian sports teams, girl’s night out at volleyball, and spent quiet time knitting gifts. She taught so many people baking, cooking, and life lessons, volunteering for 4H and Heart and Stroke foundation. She was a feisty, confident, hard-working and a devoted friend to many.
Family and friends are invited to come share drinks, stories and food at a celebration of Jane’s life on her 85th birthday, August 16, 2024, at Good Family Farms Event Centre, 157366 7th Line Meaford, from 4 to 8 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
