It is with heavy hearts, that the family of Jean Elizabeth Whalen (nee Filsinger) announce her sudden passing, at her Owen Sound residence on November 10th, 2023, at the age of 79 years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Paul Wilkinson Whalen. Jean was the proud mother of David Whalen (Natalie) of Owen Sound, Kevin Whalen (Tracey) of Kemble, and predeceased by her dear son Kenneth Whalen. Doting grandmother of Garrett Whalen (Ashley) of Owen Sound, Nikki Wilson (Garrett) of Oro-Medonte, Kendra Whalen (Greg) and Cole Whalen of Kemble. Ecstatic great-grandmother of Noah Whalen and Ty Wilson. Jean is also survived by her many siblings, Dorothy Boyes (Mervin), Delores McAfee, Viola Scales (Ron), Velma Miller (Harland), Mark Filsinger (Theresa), Frieda Hillier (Al), Ken Filsinger, Marj Herman (Gerry) and Paul Filsinger (Sharon). Jean will be missed by her many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbours, and her two special fur babies; Tom and Gerry.
Predeceased by her parents Charles Filsinger and Margaret Hermeston-McMillan, brothers- in-law Alvin McAfee, Doug Whalen and in-laws Maurice Whalen and Jean Johnston (Jim).
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Garafraxa Hill Funeral Home, Chatsworth. A visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, Nov. 15th from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. A funeral service, officiated by Paul Filsinger, will be held in the funeral home chapel, on Thursday, November 16th at 11:00 a.m. Refreshments and lunch will be served and an interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
