Peacefully at Lee Manor in Owen Sound, in his 95th year.
Born near Allenford, Ontario, September 23, 1930. Loving husband of the late Audrey (Snider); father to Carolyn (Ian Williamson) MacDonald, Mary Ann (Steve Duncan) MacDonald, Miriam (Vic) Ratzlaff and Paul (Julia) MacDonald; grandfather to Trayvon, Jaden, Caleb (Jenica), Brianna (Manny), Seth (Leanne), Charis (Ryan), Cai (Rebekah), Jake, Luke and Maisie; great-grandfather to Leland, Ezra, Freya, Reuben, Sawyer, Oakley and Holland. Remembered by his sister Evangeline Brett.
Predeceased by parents David and Lucy (McCulloch) MacDonald, brothers Leland (Marion), Donald (June), and sisters Alice (Don) Potter, Helen (Elgin) Greenfield, Edith (Howard) Cruickshank.
Farm boy, schoolteacher, banker, Edwards parts and service manager “retired” in 1980 after a quarter century, owner of Lawson’s—sold in 1996 and “retired”, bookkeeper until 2019, retired. Then—fixing things, reading, crokinole, crosswords, visiting, family time, worshipping his Creator. More of that to come!
Visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at Alliance Church, 440 7th Avenue East, Owen Sound, Ontario, on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 11:30 a.m., followed by a reception at the Alliance Church.
