Josie Butler, of Owen Sound, passed peacefully at Chapman House, after a brief illness, on Monday, June 10, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Frank (2010).
Dear mother of Ric (Beverly), Susan, Brenda (Randy), and Cathy (Steve). She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Anthony, Nicholas, Michelle (Brandon), Jessica (John), Matthew (Kris), Emily (Sam), Kate (Mathew), Shea, Kirk and Kara, as well as by her great grandchildren Alice, Charlotte, Carmela and Nora. Dear sister of Syl Bullock (Garry) and Enzo Fazio (Carla). Josie will be missed by her nieces, nephews and friends.
Josie was born in Rome, Italy and came to Canada with her family in 1955. Work took her to Elliot Lake, where she met Frank in 1958 and married in 1960. Frank’s work took them to several cities in the early years of their marriage, first settling in Owen Sound in 1967. There were a few work transfers, but they returned for good in 1993. Josie was active in the community and with her church for many years while raising her busy family. Josie always enjoyed having her family visit or travelling to visit them. She enjoyed playing cards each week and avidly followed the Blue Jays and tennis. Mom always made our house a home. Her patience, kindness and caring extended beyond her family to all; she will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Josie’s life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 12 p.m., with Rev. Kristal McGee officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Grey Bruce Residential Hospice – Chapman House or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Online condolences can be sent to Josie’s family by visiting her memorial at www.woodfuneralhome.ca.
