With her loving family by her side, Karen passed away peacefully at Chapman House Hospice, Owen Sound, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, in her 80th year. Karen Playford (nee Rudolph) was the beloved wife and best friend of Bob, with whom she built a life full of love and laughter. A devoted and caring mother, Karen will be deeply missed by Michele and her husband Jamie Brancati, Stephanie Playford, and Robyn and her husband Greg Benenati. She was a proud and cherished Grandma to Nicki (Andrew), Kaitlin, Bree, and Matthew, and a loving G.G. to little Luca, who brought her so much joy. Karen also leaves behind her dear sister Louise (Dave Low) and her brother Jim (Jane) Rudolph.
Karen was a familiar and beloved face in the Owen Sound community. As the owner of Karen’s Draperies and Blinds, she poured her heart into her work, helping countless families turn their houses into homes with her beautifully crafted draperies. Her attention to detail and warm personality made her a trusted name in the area, and many homes still carry the mark of her creativity and care.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Karen’s PSW Kash, ALS Canada, Chapman House Hospice, and CarePartners for their kindness, compassion, and support throughout her journey.
A Celebration of Karen’s Life will take place later in the spring, with details to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to ALS Canada or Grey Bruce Hospice – Chapman House would be deeply appreciated.
