Mielhausen, Kate – of Lion’s Head, peacefully at Gateway Haven, Wiarton, surrounded by her family, on Sunday June 25, 2023. Katherine Annette Mielhausen (nee McLay) in her 97th year.
Wife of 63 years to the late Ivan Mielhausen (2010). Devoted mother of Gloria (Howard Weir) of Shallow Lake; John Mielhausen (Suzanne) of Lion’s Head; Janice (Wayne Eckenswiller) of Barrow Bay; Norma (Martin MacLeod) of Peterborough; Connie (Steve Tackaberry); Jamie Mielhausen (Sandra) and Jeff Mielhausen (Roberta) all of Lion’s Head. Cherished grandmother of 31 and great-grandmother of 28. Sadly missed by her sister-in-law Patsy Thompson, and brothers-in-law Clayton Mielhausen (Goldie), and Murray Mielhausen (Barb), all of Lion’s Head and her many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law Dennis Hellyer (1983); parents Charlie and Mary Susan; sisters and brothers Christina (Earlby McCutcheon); Peg (Bob McCutcheon); Malcolm, Lyle (Dorothy); Dan (Susie); brother-in-law Arnold Mielhausen (Phoebe) and sister-in-law Marjorie McIver (Norman).
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the wonderful care given to their Mom by Dr. VanDorp and the staff of Gateway Haven.
Friends are invited to call at the Bethel Missionary Church, 18 Ferndale Road, Lion’s Head on Tuesday, July 4 from 2:00 to 4:00, 7:00 to 9:00 and Wednesday from 1:00-2:00. A service to celebrate Kate’s life will be held at the Church on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock conducted by Rev. Norma MacLeod. Interment Eastnor cemetery.
