Passed suddenly at his home in Kimberley, on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 in his 88th year.
Beloved husband of 57 years to Marian (nee Chard).
Loving father of Jennifer (Elliott Pritchard) of Oakville and Marlene (Sami Rehman) of Ottawa.Cherished and proud grandfather of Charlotte Pritchard and Amare and Rhys Rehman. Dear brother of Ron of Holland Landing, Eileen Giblin of Whitby and Cathy Lauzon of Milton. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Carmelita Doyle, brother Douglas, sister Mary Lois Doyle, brothers in-law Douglas Chard and Roger Lauzon and sister in law Linda Doyle. Survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ken was born September 13, 1936 in Toronto, Ontario. He attended East York Collegiate then earned his Bachelor of Science from Western University, London. He soon started his teaching career at Flesherton District High School in 1960. He met and married the love of his life, Marian, on August 13, 1966. After spending two years in Toronto, they moved back to Grey County, where Ken taught at the brand new Grey Highlands Secondary School in Flesherton from 1968 until his retirement in 1990. He was a cherished science teacher, specializing in biology, to many students over the years. Known for his intelligence and quick wit, he was committed to his profession and enjoyed making learning interesting and engaging. Ken had an active and curious mind with a keen interest World War 2 and American Civil War history and financial markets. A devoted father, husband and grandfather, retirement was an opportunity for Ken to spend more time with family and follow the Toronto Blue Jays ever hopeful for a win.
The family will receive friends at the Flesherton Kinplex on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 11:00am, until the time of service at 1pm. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Flesherton Love Committee or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
