Peacefully at Brightshores Health System, Markdale on Monday, January 13, 2025 of Feversham in his 88th year.
Beloved husband of Donna(nee Brown) for 63 years. Loving father of Klaus Jr. of Feversham and Susan of Thornbury. Dear brother of Herman of Singhampton, Gottfried of Feversham, Bill of Feversham, Grata of Toronto and Matta of Toronto. Predeceased by parents Klaus and Gersha, sisters Mimi Springer, Tina Stokeless, brothers John, Adolf and Henry. Survived by sisters in-law Grata and Marion. Remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Klaus came to Canada in 1952 from Germany. He started working at 14 in Toronto, at a factory building rocking chairs. He also worked in tobacco fields with his sisters. Later, he started working with his brothers in masonry construction. Klaus got married in 1961 to Donna Pauline Brown, July 29th. At that time, he worked at Norman Brown Orchards for 3 years; he was offered Foreman of orchard operations but his heart was in farming. He purchased a farm on 10th Line from his brother John in 1969. He continued as a mason labourer and farmer. He moved to the farm in 1970 further up the 10th Line with his family. He really liked trees, nature and animals. He was an honest and extremely good neighbour. His hard work continued day or night to help farming neighbours and strangers when they needed it. One more move put Klaus and his family in the middle of Feversham’s John Street subdivision.
Thank you to all the medical staff at Markdale Hospital for your care and compassion with Klaus’ care.
The family will receive friends at Fawcett Funeral Cremation Reception, Flesherton on Thursday, January 16 from 4:00-6:00pm and again on Friday from 10:00 until 11:00am. Funeral service on Friday at 11:00am.Spring interment Burns Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to a local Food Bank or the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.
