October 7, 1959 – January 16, 2023
Linda Dow-Sitch, of Georgian Bluffs and originally from the Hopeville area, passed away on January 16 at the age of 63 years.
Dearly loved wife and best friend of the late Murray Sitch. Loving and devoted mother of Robert. Dear daughter of Roberta (Bobbie) Dow and the late Gordon Dow. Sister of John Dow and beloved friend of the late Madonna Decker. Cherished daughter-in-law of the late Edwin and Donna Sitch. Linda will be greatly missed by many friends including her longtime friends, Pat and Rod Sein.
Linda was a graduate of Lakehead University in 1987, earning an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She was a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse in the long-term care sector for 33 years and a Charge Nurse at Summit Place in Owen Sound for much of her career. Linda was a friend and mentor to many staff members as well as a dedicated, caring nurse to countless families over the years. She was a strong advocate for healthcare staff and the seniors under her care. Linda was committed to supporting the nursing profession and quality healthcare through her tireless work as a local leader with the Ontario Nurses’ Association.
Linda loved her family, her cats (Mollie and Hazel), travel, gardening, and birding. She enjoyed many trips throughout Canada and the United States over the years with Murray, Robert, and friends. Linda touched the lives of many people with her kind and generous nature. Her life will remain a loving reminder to find the best in others, live life to its fullest, appreciate nature, look after our furry and feathery friends, and to find humour in every situation.
Linda was lovingly cared for by the staff of 6th Floor Owen Sound Hospital and the Palliative Care physicians who helped ensure her final days were comfortable, peaceful, and dignified. After Linda’s many years of caring for others, it was a privilege and an honour for her friends to hold her hand and care for her during the last few weeks of her journey.
There will be a combined celebration of life for Linda and her late husband, Murray, at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home in Owen Sound on April 19, 2023 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. If desired, donations to the Canadian Liver Foundation Ontario Chapter or Autism Ontario would be appreciated as your expression of sympathy. Donations may be made through Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 – 14th Street West, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 3X8 (519) 376-7492).
