Lionel was born August 11, 1946 in Meaford. He grew up in Kimberley and attended school there. He got a job with Hydro One(formerly Ontario Hydro) as a construction electrician. He built and maintained many of Ontario’s transformer stations you still see today. He married the love of his life in 1970 in Sault St. Marie and together they raised their four beautiful children in Waterloo. While their weekdays were spent in the city, every weekend was enjoyed at the family farm in Kimberley. Eventually, Lionel and Eileen moved there permanently to enjoy their “hobby” farm and orchard. Lionel loved the land and everything he grow in it and anything that walked on it. These years were some of his favourites, being back where his heart always was, Grey County. Along with many friends and his community, he will also be missed by many strays that sought him out for food.
A celebration of Lionel’s life will take place at the Kimberley Hall on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 1:00-3:00pm. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the We Fund Care, Cambridge, would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences at www.fawcettfuneralhome.ca
