Bernice passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at Victoria Hospital in London, on Friday, March 18,2022. Born on December 15, 1928, Madeline Bernice Gowan (nee Crawford) of Owen Sound and formerly of Allenford and Tara, was in her 94th year.
Dearly loved wife of the late Donald Gowan(1990). Loving mother of Lynn Packer (Rick) of Londesborough, Ken Gowan (Heather), Murray Gowan (Delores), Steve Gowan (Kathy) and Bernie Gowan (Bev) all of Allenford and Donelda Gowan (Bryan Leverick) of Saskatoon. Cherished grandmother of 21 and great-grandmother of 24. Predeceased by her parents John and Mabel Crawford (nee Coffey), grandson Kyle and great-granddaughter Emma. Survived by sisters-in- law Muriel Gowan, Sadie Fenton, Anna Farrow (Gord) and brother-in-law Ross Herron. Also predeceased by brothers-in-law Willis (Madeline), John (Thelma), Neil Gowan,and Tommy Fenton and sisters-in-law Margie Buckton (Cecil), Ruby Legge (Gordon), Laureen Gowan (Joe) and Mary Herron. Bernice will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
She was a long-time member of the Music Making Moms, playing in many different bands and influencing young musicians throughout her life. Bernice lived a life of great faith and was active in the Presbyterian church.
Visitation for Bernice Gowan will be held at Brian E. Wood funeral Home, 250 14th Street West, Owen Sound, Ontario, N4K 3X8 on Thursday, March 24, from 6 to 9 pm, with funeral on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11 am.As per the Family’s wishes, Masks are required to attend. Spring interment Hillcrest Cemetery, Tara.
