Surrounded by the love of her family, Elaine Stewart passed away peacefully at Lee Manor on Saturday, March 13, 2021 in her 84th year. Born in Port Elgin on January 25, 1938, Marion Elaine Stewart (née Lougheed) was a driving force as an educator and within her family and church communities.
She and Alvin Stewart embodied love and devotion throughout their 60 years of marriage. Elaine was an involved and loving mother of Connie, Steven (Kit), Ian and Paul (Kim). Proud grandma of Ryan, Kaylie, Cassidy, Erin, Gillian, Brady, Brandon and Calvin. Adored great grandmother of Kenzie. Cherished daughter of Marion Lougheed, of Owen Sound and the late Harold Lougheed. Dear sister of Dwayne, Bevan (Lois), and Kyle (Cindy) and sister-in-law to Ainsley (Beth), Morgan (Linda), Al (Connie) Stewart, Janet (Verd) Mackie, Steve Donnelly and Kathleen Lougheed. Elaine will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by brothers Durwin and Brian, sister Lorna Donnelly, parents-in-law Harold and Jean Stewart, brother-in-law Harv Stewart and sister-in-law Eileen Lougheed.
Visitation will be held at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Sunday, March 21, 2021, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. With public health restrictions all attendees must wear a mask and follow social distancing protocols. A private funeral service to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021, with Rev. Roy Nicol-Macdonald officiating. Although the service is private, friends and family are welcome to view the service via livestream at 2 p.m. by selecting the ‘LIVE STREAMING’ menu option at the top right corner of the funeral home website (woodfuneralhome.ca). A video recording of the service will also be posted to Elaine’s memorial webpage later in the day. Interment will take place at Leith Cemetery later in the spring and a public gathering to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held post COVID.
