Garth passed away unexpectedly at the Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound, on Friday, July 22, 2022.
Born on October 8, 1927 in Sydenham Township, Marshall Garth Brown, of Owen Sound and formerly of Bognor, was in his 95th year. Dearly loved husband and best friend of Dorene Brown (née Robertson) for 71 years. Loving father of Jim Brown (Sandra), of Brussels and Kathy Guindon, of Owen Sound. Proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Dear brother-in-law of Elgin Warrilow, Glenn Robertson (Carol) and Wayne Robertson (Connie). Garth will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Elva Brown, his parents-in-law, Harry and Dorothy Robertson his siblings, Edith Ceaser (Jack), Grace McNabb (Ken), Shirley Warrilow and his brother-in-law, Carl Robertson.
Garth was a proud resident of Bognor for 92 years. He served many years on the Bognor Hall Board and was the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award for decades of service to the Bognor Community. He was an honorary member of McLean’s Cemetery, a member of the Golden Mile Club, an avid euchre player and he loved to dance with his bride of 71 years.
A Memorial Service for Garth Brown will be held at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492 on Thursday July 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.with Pastor Michael Henkel officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The family requests friends to be diligent in COVID precautions and wear a face covering during the visitation and service. The service will live-streamed for individuals that are unable to attend. Private interment in McLean’s Cemetery, Bognor.
