Heaven received a beautiful soul on April 3, 2022. Marvyn passed away peacefully with his loving wife and daughter by his side in his 93rd year.
Beloved wife and best friend of Doreen McLeod (nee Johnston) for 69 years. Loving dad of Doug McLeod (Charmaine) of Bonnyville, Alberta and Dianne McLeod of Owen Sound. Survived by his brother Roger McLeod of Owen Sound and his sister Jill O’Guin of Virginia USA. Cherished grandfather of Craig and Brent Foubert and Matthew and Andrew McLeod and great-grandpa of Stella, Selena, Leah, Bella, Eva and Brysen.
Predeceased by his parents Roy and Laura McLeod, his brothers Ken, Robert and Sid McLeod and his sister Lorraine Potter.
Marvyn retired in his 70’s from his business that he loved of decorating people’s homes. He was so meticulous of his work and had a waiting list for his expertise. He and his wife spent many winters on Padre Island and loved fishing on their boat in Georgian Bay for the rest of the year. As hard as this is for our family, we are grateful you are now free from the dementia that you lived with for 6 years. You remained thankful, sweet and somehow found your sense of humour on occasion to carry us through. Your love for your sweets will live on in your two kids.
Special thanks to Dr. Van Zyl and all the staff at Lee Manor for taking great care of him in the past 15 months. Tanya you were so special to him. Thank you. You gave us great updates when needed and made dad smile daily with your greeting “hi handsome.” Diane and all the PSW’s, RPN’s, housekeepers, kitchen staff and Donna, the social worker, you were so good to him, thank you. Special thanks also to Dr. Gagnier and Dr. Lozon at GBHS ER. Christen Spence his RN, so thankful for your compassion and care and being there for mom and me till the end. So very much appreciated.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th Street West, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
If so desired, a donation to the Lee Manor Social Convenor for their crafts or the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce would be appreciated by the family. A tree will be planted at his favourite walking spot, Harrison Park, in his honour. Condolences can be sent to the family by visiting Marvyn’s online memorial at www.woodfuneralhome.ca.
Fly high with the angels you kind sweet man. You will be missed immensely.
