Mary Worthington of Ripley passed away at Huron Shores Hospice with her family by her side. She was 2 months shy of her 100th birthday.
She was the beloved wife of the late Lloyd Worthington who predeceased her in 2009. Mary was born on April 22, 1923 in Bruce Township to her late parents Elizabeth Kirktown and Roy Kennedy. Dear mother of her late daughter Jane (2011), Richard (Sharron) of Angus, and her late son John (Cecile) (2022). Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Joshua, Wesley (Alison), Bradley (Jessica), Bruce, Brett (Jacqui), Alexandria (Rohit) Jennifer, Rebecca, and Brandon. Mary was a proud great-grandma to Madeline, William, Evelyn, Mateo, Sofia, Kellen, Levi, Simon, Benjamin, and Luke. Missed by her chosen family members Rudong Guo, Lucy Guo, Michelle Thornton, and Lia and Beverly Guo. Survived by nephews David (Vera) Kennedy, Jim Kennedy (Lindsey Beaudoin), Don (Chris) Worthington, and niece Anne Brook.
Predeceased by her brothers Jack (Beatrice) Kennedy and Goldwin (Marion) Kennedy.
Mary was a long-time member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Ripley and the UCW. While at the cottage in the summer she attended South Sauble Community Church for which she was a founding member of the Board of Directors. Mary was past President of the Ripley Horticultural Society. Whenever you were fortunate enough to meet Mary you would be welcomed with a warm smile.
