Passed away peacefully at Owen Sound Hospital on November 9, 2023. Born in Owen Sound on January 24, 1932, Maudie Douglas was in her 92nd year.
Beloved Wife of Kenneth Douglas of Owen Sound. Loving mother of Kenneth Douglas (Christine) of Vancouver Island, Wendy Behling (Martin) of Acton and Michelle Ratkowski (Dr. Terry) of Kingston. Cherished grandma of Kristen, Stacey, Regan, Erich, Rebecca, Adam and Abby. Great-grand-mother to 10. Missed by her Siblings Phillis Cochrane, Patricia Robins and Bill Baker.
Predeceased by her parents William & Margaret Baker; her siblings of Muriel Record (Jim), Edgerton Scammel (Verna), Evelyn McReavey (Viv, then Patrick), Lorraine Eden (Victor), James Cochrane, Paul Robins and Eulene Baker. Maudie will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Maudie, the fifth-born among eight siblings, found love in Ken at O.S.C.V.I, marrying her high school sweetheart and sharing over 73 years of marriage. She cherished her family, knitting, sewing, bridge, and literature. Summers at Sauble Beach were a cherished time, where joy and love mingled with the soothing waves.
In keeping with Maudie’s wishes, cremation is taking place and a private service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Owen Sound Hospital Foundation or Chapman House Hospice would be appreciated.
