Passed away peacefully at Brightshores – Owen Sound Hospital on Sunday, February 11, 2024. Born in Owen Sound on November 12, 1930, Maxwell Kerr Penner was in his 94th year.
Beloved husband for 70 years of Judith Penner (née Rahn) of Owen Sound. Loving father of Kathy Penner (Crispin Morris), Brian Penner, Janice Penner (Paul Leech) and Terry Penner (Cindy). Cherished grandpa of Andrew Penner (Lindsay), Adam Penner (Adrienne), Alex Penner (Olga) ,Ross Leech, Connor Leech Morgan Leech. Great Grandfather of Maxwell, Zakary, Ava, Emma, and Eleanor.
Predeceased by his parents George and Annie Penner, and his siblings Ross Penner (Marion) and George Penner Jr.
Max had a long career at R.C.A. Victor and later established his well-known furniture refinishing business. Max loved sports especially hockey, bowling, and softball, which he coached for many years. Max lived most of his life at “Penner’s Corner”. He and Judy had an impressive vegetable garden, and farmed dairy, beef and poultry. When working at R.C.A. Max would milk the cows by hand and then be at work by 7:30 a.m. Max was known for his infectious chuckle and his love of a good game of cards.
The family would like to thank the kind and attentive medical team at Step Down and the health care team of the Home and Community Support Services.
In keeping with Max’s wishes, cremation is taking place. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound. 519-376-7492. A celebration of Max’s life will be held in the summer at the Penner Farm.
