April 7, 1925 – March 25, 2023
Mel Proud died peacefully in the final days of his 98th year.
Mel was a loyal son to Lindsay and Bethia and brother to Dr Russel and Rev Arnold Proud (all deceased). Adoring husband to the late Muriel (née Strong) and loving father to Bill (the late Donna Knott), Joan Burlington (Jim) and Holly Cameron. He will be forever admired by his grandchildren Jerry Burlington (Leanne), Jeff Burlington (Diane), Melanie Cameron (Tomas) and Michelle Cameron
(Geoff) and great-grandchildren Quinn, Rhys, Sawyer, Maggie, Nathan, Hazel, Finley and Henry.
Mel built his life and family at Sauble View Farms and enjoyed a second career with Royal City Real Estate. He was a lifelong member of Tara United Church and an active community member and volunteer. The family are grateful for the care Mel and Muriel received at Lee Manor during their final years.
Visitation will take place at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, with the funeral celebrating his life to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Tara United Church or Owen Sound Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
