It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Murray Edmonstone. Born in Owen Sound on November 28, 1945, Murray passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener on January 20, 2024, in his 79th year.
Proud father of John Edmonstone (Abby) and Julie Day (Kevin). Cherished papa to Nicole, Joe, River, Mariah, Shairah, Johnny, Tyler, Brandon, Austin and Jenna. Great Papa to Jaydin, Grayson and Izzabellee.
Loving brother to Pat Clark and 7 nieces and nephews. Survived by former spouse and good friend Sharon and her spouse George Norris. Predeceased by his parents Herbert and Myrtle Edmonstone and his brother-in-law Tom Clark.
Murray was a devoted friend and neighbour who touched many lives. Known affectionately as “Obie” by his friends, he embodied the true spirit of friendship. Always ready to go the extra mile for those he cared about.
An avid walker, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures and had a passion for sports such as hockey and baseball. Proudly tending to his yard and property, he created a welcoming haven. His gatherings around the bonfire and bbq showcased his warmth and hospitality, creating memorable moments for friends and family.
He took great pride in his job. For an impressive 48 years, from 1963-2011, Murray served as Parts Manager at Grey Motors, demonstrating unwavering commitment and expertise. A place where he treated you not only as a customer, but as a friend. It would not be unheard of to be greeted with a,” Hey Brother” when you walked in the door!
His legacy is one of kindness, generosity and unparalleled devotion to his family. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Further details to follow. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
To those who wish to contribute in his memory, donations can be made to the Owen Sound Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Wildlife Federation. These charities held special significance to Murray. Online condolences can be sent to Murray’s family by visiting his memorial at www.woodfuneralhome.ca
