1954 – 2020
“He had the rest of his life ahead of him”
Renard Atkinson Kennedy of Balmy Beach, died peacefully on September 20th, 2020 at University Hospital LHSC. Ren was the cherished husband of Lynn Vanwyck (nee Klages), loving father and papa of Alan and his daughter, Olivia; Andrew and his wife Sam and their daughters Brooklynn and Hannah; Stacey Keller and her husband Tyler and their son Dean. Dear brother of Rodney (deceased), Lou Phillips (late Dave) of Owen Sound, Roger and his wife, Betsy of Tara and Rick (late Jan) of Duncan, BC.
Predeceased by his parents Henry and Mildred (nee Atkinson) and his first wife Sharon (nee Viola). Dear stepfather and grandpa of Paul and Darlene Vanwyck and their children Sarah, Jake, Connor, Spencer and Reilly; also, Kerri and Jamie Walpole and their daughters Jocelyn and Belle. Best friend of Glen Henry. Fondly remembered by the Klages in-laws – Jerry and Judy, Dave and Barb, Keith and Jean, Bob and Ruth, Don, Fred and Dawn, Beth and Robert Fenton, Jeff and Penny, Brad (deceased) and Steve and by the Kennedy, Klages, Viola and Vanwyck families and friends.
A proud Tara boy, Ren will be remembered for his sense of humour, his love of pranks, good stories, railroad modelling travelling, camping and “being hard to be humble”.
Visitation at the Brian E Wood Funeral Home on Wednesday September 23, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, 50 people will be allowed in the building at any given time, and visitors are asked to wear a mask and follow physical distancing rules. Interment Hill Crest Cemetery, Tara.
