Ruth Bernice Carmichael (nee King) passed away peacefully at Lee Manor with her loving family by her side on Tuesday evening, March 2, 2021, at the age of 90 years.
Dearly loved wife and best friend of the late Lloyd Carmichael (2020) for 68 years. Loving mother of Ellen Cavill (Jack), of Chesley, Elaine Newton (Robert), of London and Ray Carmichael (Angela), of Kitchener. Proud grandmother of Perry (Heather), Shelley (Dan), Rob (Erin), Danielle, Matt (Steph) and great-grandmother of Alex, Ashleigh, Quinn, Logan, Noah and Ellie. Dear sister-in-law of Jean Tolton, of Owen Sound, Ivan Carmichael (Ada), of Chatsworth, Elizabeth Weaver, of Port Hope, Gwen Barry (Earl), of Chatsworth. Ruth will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents, George and Harriet King; her siblings, Margaret Tolton (Wesley), Ken King (Ruth) and Lois Fiegehen (Art); her parents-in-law, Henry and Elizabeth Carmichael; her in-laws, Lorraine Farrell (Richard) and Charles Weaver.
Ruth worked together with Lloyd on the family farm for many years near Bognor. She was an incredible cook and baker, well known for her homemade bread, buns and amazing pies. Ruth enjoyed volunteering at the Owen Sound Regional Hospital, singing in the choir and volunteering at many church events as well. Ruth and Lloyd enjoyed dancing, euchre parties, travelling and spending time with family and friends. She will be sadly missed.
A Private Funeral Service for Ruth Carmichael will be held in the Chapel of the BRIAN E. WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 250 14th Street West, Owen Sound (519-376-7492) on Saturday, March 6, 2021 with Rev. Roy Nicol-Macdonald officiating. Friends are welcome to watch the service at 1:00 p.m. via livestream by selecting the ‘LIVE STREAMING’ menu option at the top right corner of the funeral home website (woodfuneralhome.ca). Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
