Ruth passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, on Sunday, January 29, 2023.  Born on April 2, 1939 in Owen Sound, Ruth Marie Smith (née McChesney) of Owen Sound, was in her 84th year.

Dearly loved wife and best friend of John Smith for 63 years.  Loving mother of Barry Smith, of Owen Sound. Proud grandmother of Seema Bains (Jonathan Gan) and Manjit Ford (Christopher) and great-grandmother of Patrick, Dev, Neesa, Jasmine and Tristan. Predeceased by her parents, Jack and Marie McChesney and her daughter-in-law, Anita Bains.

A Visitation will be held at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th Street West, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492 on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 from 6: 00 – 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service for Ruth Smith will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Spring interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Tara.
