Passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Born in Owen Sound on June 26, 1944, Wayne George Duncan Morrison of Owen Sound was in his 81st year.
Beloved husband of Betty Morrison (nee Sword) of Owen Sound. Loving father of Sherry Spencer (Sal) of Kitchener, Carol Hopkins (Alvin) of Park Head and Melissa Morrison (Scott Kobe) of Alberta. Special uncle of Brad Morrison (Theresa) of Kitchener. Grandpa of Corey, Rebecca (Patrick) and Katelyn. Great grandpa of Desman. Dear brother of Ross Morrison (Sharon) of Owen Sound and brother in law of Glen Parkinson of Guelph. Wayne will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by his parents James and Louise Morrison, and by his siblings Ramona Morrison, Murray Morrison (June), Carol Rush (George), Vivian Parkinson, Loreen Morrison, Lorraine McCurdy (John) and Doug Morrison.
Wayne was an actual hero. He assisted with the rescue of a person trapped in the North Saskatchewan River near Edmonton, Alberta. For his efforts, he received an Honorary Testimonial from the Royal Canadian Humane Association for Heroism and Presence of Mind.
In keeping with Wayne’s wishes, cremation is taking place. Visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Kathy Underwood officiating. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
